What is C.R.A.P?

CRAP is an acronym for "Concerned Residents Against Poop", some people that want to stand up for all the people that have to live with poop left on city sidewalks and in their front yards.

Mr Dog Poop receives calls from around the country daily from residents complaining their neighbor's dog has just left dog poop on their sidewalk, lawn and even in garages or on front porches. Angry beyond belief, we try to calm them down and talk about ways we can help them, but the truth is, we really can't help everyone everywhere today.

But here in our own backyard, Tampa Florida we are doing something to help people right now.

We have volunteers collecting dog poop samples around the city and we are taking that poop back to our lab and generating genetic profiles from it. These profiles are logged in our "Unsolved Poop & Run Database" and can be matched against future dog poop found on the streets.

When poop and run violators are identified by eyewitness accounts, video or photos, the dog poop they leave behind can be matched with all previous incidents and turned over to the authorities for fines.

While the city government does not seem to have the resources to stop the dog poop problem, as residents of this community we are not going to sit back and let careless dog owners ruin it for everyone.

The environmental impact and health risks to humans and dogs is well documented and not up for debate. It is the law that dog owners must pick up after their dogs but the law is not being enforced.

We have taken it upon ourselves to see that the law is enforced and we will hold pet owners responsible and expect Hillsborough County to do their part in levying fines against the guilty parties that we identify.

Pet owners of Tampa need to be on notice that we are collecting your dog's poop and filing that dogs DNA in our Offender database for publication ONLINE! If you choose to leave dog poop in public or on other people's property, think about how big brother is watching and don't be surprised if you get a citation by mail with a list of violations and fines.

Report Dog Poop

Someone Pooped on my lawn, what can I do?

First start by placing a report on PoopandRun.com with any evidence, names or information about the guilty dog owner. Include the time and date of the incident and if it is close by any of our available volunteers, someone will be sent to the scene and a sample will be collected for DNA analysis.

The DNA evidence along with any documentation from the eye wittiness will allow us to match any unsolved poop and run events with the dog owner identified.

The information will be turned over to the country for appropriate fines and legal action against the resident.

The Goal of CRAP

The goal of our program is not to be a vigilante group against dog poop, but rather to help people understand the impact of leaving dog poop in public areas, the health risks and make them understand, it s not OK to just let their dog poop and run.

Our hope is that pet owners across the country will see what we are doing and start being responsible and cleaning up after their pets.

When people understand how far people will go to enforce the law, maybe they will take it seriously.

We envision a world where no child will ever have to get sick or go blind again just for playing in a city park where dogs pooped. That no public water supply will be contaminated by dog poop. That no manatees or other wildlife will die from dog poop run off. That beaches can be enjoyed without the fear of salmonella or ecoli poisoning.

We want to create a world where children can walk barefoot through the park without parents fearing that they will contract parasites from the soil which can make them sick or even kill them.

We are not sure why people do no take the dog poop clean up laws seriously but it is time for that to change.

The residents of Tampa have had enough!
