The Pooper Scooper Exams
At Mr Dog Poop Inc all Dog Poop Techs must pass an annual written exam to demonstrate their continued knowledge of dog poop safety and handling procedures.
As a company we recognize that over time people tend to get sloppy, take short cuts and forget what they were taught. But when it comes to working around something as toxic and dangerous as Dog Poop, that is just not going to work. An employee's mistake could cause cross contamination of yards, make animals sick or even endanger human health.
We all depend of the cooks at restaurants to wash their hands after using the bathroom but do we really know if they do? We would like to see regular tests in all industries that involve any type of public heath issue. Sure they have rules, but are they being followed as a matter of practice?
At Mr Dog Poop, we take every precaution to insure each employee follows our strict safety protocols and understands exactly why they need to follow each procedure. We accomplish this with a comprehensive testing procedure.
The annual exam is in two parts, a written exam and a supervised ride along.
Some of the requirements of the written exam include:
Employees must be able to give a brief written summary of the parasites in dog poop as well as being able to identify those parasites in photos. This is particularly important in recognizing parasites in the field and alerting dog owners when parasites are present in poop.
Employees must identify different bacteria contained in dog poop and explain the consequences or harmful effects of each to humans and animals.
Explain the protocols for safe handling of dog poop indoor and outdoor and the process for safely neutralizing the bacteria and or parasites in both cases.
Explain the differences in all of the company used disinfectants and cleaning solutions and write a brief example of when each should be used.
Explain which chemicals and procedures should be used in multiple random clean up environments.
Identify 10 dog breeds from 15 photos and describe the temperament of each and the company safety protocols when working with each breed.
Employees will also be questioned about the customers on their routes to see if they have become familiar with their clients and insure that they are continuously striving to do a better job for their clients.
In the supervised ride along:
Employees are observed and graded in their handing practices, cleaning procedures and general work ethic.
Employees will be observed while cleaning yards as well as collecting DNA samples from dogs to insure they are interacting with humans and animals in a satisfactory manner.
Employees will be tested on the proper use of carpet and upholstery cleaning equipment and questioned about the safest cleaners to use in different circumstances.
Employees will have to demonstrate safe use of the pressure washing system on multiple surfaces and explain which disinfectants are suitable for each surface.
Employees will have to demonstrate effectively spot disinfecting of a complete yard and explain the differences in the treatments and their effects on the waste and bacteria left on the lawn.
Overall Analysis
All employees must be able to demonstrate that they can do their job effectively, efficiently and without incident. Not understanding why they must disinfect their shoes leads to sloppiness and eventually not doing it at all.
Any employee that violates protocols will be sternly reprimanded and subject to further disciplinary action or full dismissal.
We take the job very seriously and we have little tolerance for sloppy, careless or otherwise inconsistent practices.
Our employees are expected to meet the highest level of excellence, dress properly and do their job in a professional manner. Any less will result in dismissal from our work force.
