There Is Covid 19 In Dog Poop

These is no debate about whether dogs and cats can get covid 19, they can and they are. They are not being tested, however, based on the vast numbers of people in the US that have had it, the likelihood that a high percentage of the pet population has or is infected.

Knowing that, we continue to warn everyone about the dangers of dog poop. Especially the people collecting samples for DNA testing.

It is widely know that fecal shedding of covid 19 was an issue in pools and hot tubs making those activities unsafe. In fact, in China covid tests are done on stool samples or with anal swabs.

As it appears, there is more covid in poop that in in the nasal cavity.

That should alarm anyone when they are near any dog poop. Keep clear and avoid it, don't let your dog get near it, if they lick it, they can get sick and spread it to you.

If you are collecting samples wear a mask, safety glasses and gloves as you should always wear when collecting dog poop for DNA testing.

If you are picking up after your own pet, use gloves in addition to a dog poop bag. The micro abrasions in the bag can allow covid to pass through the plastic bag and can infect you.

Of course, always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after any contact with dog poop or dog poop bags.
