Understanding
Program Costs If poop samples are found on the property, a poop collection kit for $39.95 will be needed to preserve the DNA and ship the sample to the lab. When poop samples are processed and checked for matching, a lab fee of $40.00 will be billed to the account for a total cost of $79.95. All other supplies are optional and provided solely to make the program easier and more convienient. It is up to each property to determine what supplies they need and not to over order and have supplies sitting on a shelf unused. Many properties think they will need 100 poop collection kits, they do not, in fact 5 to 10 is more than enough for even the largest properties. Smaller properties should be fine with 5 or less. You also will not need a huge number of swabbing kits, if you are registering 5 new dogs a month, a six month supply would be (6 months x 5 dogs) = 30 swab kits and you can add an extra 10 for a safety margin. The total cost for poop and swab kits to get started should be around $397.75. You can reorder anytime and kits can be shipped out the same or next day, so there is no need to have a huge stockpile at any property. |

Collection kits are provided at the lowest possible cost so no property has a significant investment in unused inventory. Swab kits have a 3 year shelf life and poop kits are good for 5 years if stored at room temperature. So even if you do over order, the kits will be still be good for years from now. Properties will be responsible for their own shipping costs. Various envelope sizes are provided for convenience. Shipping swab samples monthly will save on postage, it is not necessary to ship in each swab when it is collected, wait until you have a few and use one envelope and one shipping fee. |
